Took my 10 yr. old son and 6 yr. old daughter to the lake yesterday evening. Packed a cooler with drinks and nightcrawlers and in my haste to leave the house left it in the kitchen.emoDoh Put in at the dam and the minnows were thick everywhere. From bank to bank there were hundreds of little schools but not much chasing them. The dam was really pulling water like crazy too. Figured we could get into some busting stripe but that never happened which was a little odd given all the minnows. I put a rooster tail on my son's pole and he quickly started to boat fish. I was chucking a finesse worm and couldn't buy a bite in the same areas. We fished from about 6-8 or so. My son ended up with 5 fish total, 2 lm, 1 sm, 1 stripe, and 1 big bluegill. My daughter and I were a tag team, I'd hook 'em and she'd wind 'em in. We got 3 after several jumped off. One busted the line in the trolling motor but I don't think it was really all that big. All in all it was a decent day on the water. It's tough for us to get time to do things like that with my work and both of them have soccer practice, etc. so it was really good in that regard.
