Getting 4 beeps AT 5200 rpm rev limiter kicks in. I shutdown and went back home. From everything Ive checked so far it apears to be a switch in the bottom of the oil tank. Anyone know if this can be changed or should i change oil tank out with new one and bleed the oil system?

I'm no mechanic by no means but I've got a 200 EFI and took the oil injection off. Paul Nichols said it wasn't a matter of if it would go out but when. Now I just mix my oil and gas manually, a little aggervating but I know for sure that its getting oil. You might look into that but a 225 might be different?

Is the oil reservoir completely full? If not start the motor and crack the cap open and let it vent until oil comes out.

DEFINITELY get rid of the auto-mix! ..150-225hp should be the same 2.5L block depending on model year. Holler at wrenchin2 here on the forum; He can hook you up

If your warranty has expired lose the oil tank and mix it manually=====I'm not James (wrechin2) but I do know that is what I would do regardless of what anybody said............

The motor is a 2004. has 10 hours on it now. But im 3rd owner. The book said if oil injection system fails the oil will gravitiy feed to motor. I think I would feel better mixing my oil. I was told this will cause it to run rich and foul plugs sooner. But it will be running to do something. Better than a blown block.any input?

The mechanical system on a 3L was a more reliable system than the 2L, 2.4L, and the 2.5 had. If it is a 225 EFI and does not say promax then it is a 3L. The only engine I know that the oil injection can not be removed on is a optimax due to the way it works. The later 3L used a electric oil pump and may not be able to be removed as mentioned. I tend to work and build the "small block" mercury v-6's.

Here is a factory manual for your and Graybullet. Maybe you will find some infomation that will help you out!

First thank you to everyone who tryed to help out. Wrenchin was correct the oil injection on the 3.0 Liter merc can not be removed. I had a boat repair place in Estill Springs Gilliams outboards on cook road replace oil tank on motor <bad Reed switch made into tank. They cleared the fault code in the computer and reseviced oil system and replace water pump. total repair bill $159.00. Checked it out this afternoon and I'm back to fishing. Boat running great.

Wrench sent Mannual on line. Found a bad checkvalve . Once installed new checkvalve oil tank began to fill from main tank.Oil tank Alarm doesnt go off any more. I had also replaced oil tank but was not the problem. As stated before 2004 225 EFI oil system can not be gone around. If you mix oil it will foul plugs are being to carbon up. Best bet for me was to fix as required and leave everything working as designed. Motor now has 12 hours on it and ran fine both times this week 72.3 MPH across Woods Res and Tims ford. Idles @ 550 RPM and Smooth.

Hey

Wrenchin, would you happen to have the 1998 Mercury 200 EFI Service Manual emoPlease ? I would really appreciate it if you have it. Thanks and be well...

Greg

I have the same motor and I just had the same problem. I replaced the oil tank and the sensor. It seems to be fixed, but I have only run it for about 30 minutes. Where is that check valve I will replace it too.
