Guys I have a question about replacing the prop seals on this mercury 115 6cyl. I spotted a little oil coming from the prop is this a major repair? Thanks for looking at this also thanks to all that replied to my last question.I took the shift/throttle control box apart and found a loose screw that was jamming the gears.

Change out the water pump while you are doing the seal job.

Is that motor a 2 cycle? The reason I am asking is sometimes the oil out of the burned gas will accumalate on the lower exhaust and prop, the seals may be ok. Check the dope in the foot and see if it is clear, if milky, the seals are bad.

the motor is 2cycl I did some further investigating and the seals are bad I did notice some water in the dope it's still black but had some bubbles. could a person with the a shop manual repair this himself? Thanks

That is a good repair job for the do it yourselfer if you have the repair manual, it will lead you thru all the steps. Also you need a supply of parts, you might buy them locally or buy them on line. They are cheaper on line.
