Mercury Alpha One outdrive

Anyone ever try changing an impeller on one of these.I dropped the lower and replaced everything but cant get it to align.Any info will be appreciated.

You need to have in forward gear on the shifter and the lower. That way you can rotate the prop to align the drive shaft. MAKE SURE you get the "o" back in between the lower and upper or it will leak oil. DO NOT put silicone on it. If you need a seal, I have plenty of them from the impeller kits.

Okay what have i done here.I did all that and got it on.Went to pull the shifter back to nuetral and it wouldnt budge.Also the prop would turn like it was in neutral.But it put it back in foward ?

On the back near the transom, there is a linkage. It has to be in forward on both boat and lower to align up. It WILL not go on any other way, but can break stuff if it is forced. I hate putting them on. Trim it up and look on the back of it. You will see the linkage I speak of. If you need, you can call me.
