The problem and my story:
Was fishing in a tourney last friday and never have had any problems out of the boat.
After fishing for a while and was about to crank up and move. I turned the switch over and nothing. And I mean nothing as in not even a click or sound. Luckily there was a boat about 200 yds away so we started trolling toward it because I don't know much at all about boat motors. Again luckily this guy did somewhat. He said he thought it was the relay, which I don't know if he is right, but anyway he had a multi-meter and a inverter on his inboard boat. He said I wasn't getting any "fire" on one side of my relay so he said to turn the switch over to the "start" position and he could get me cranked but not to turn it off again. Well, he tapped the area of what he called the "relay" with what looked like jumper cables. (it was dark and my partner was beside him so I couldn't see much) and it cranked us up.
We went back to fishing closer to the boat ramp in case it wouldn't start again, but actually it started fine from there on out the rest of the night, but we still didn't risk going far of course. Anyway, any idea what this might be and how I can fix this? Yeah, it may crank fine now, but I'm sure it's gonna do it again.
Here is a picture of the area he was messing with that night. (if this helps at all) I want to say it was the nut to the left of the black box he claimed was not getting any "fire".
Edit: Forgot to mention, the boat alarm would randomly come on sometimes too that night. It once started doing a intermittent beep while going across the lake at or over 50-60 mph. It didn't do it but once. And it once did a constant annoying beep after starting it also one time. I did check the oil and it is definitely getting oil. Both the upper and lower tank are full and plenty of blue smoke. It is also "peeing" fine.
