Has anyone experienced the problem I'm having with my 1995 Mercury 2.5 L 150 HP XRi EFI? It will start and idle fine in neutral at 800 RPM's and will run fine in neutral at high RPM's. It will also idle fine in gear (800 - 1000RPM's) but as soon as it reaches 1500 - 1700 RPM's in gear it bogs down and dies. I drained all the gas from the tanks and lines and added fresh non-ethanol gas with Sea Foam and replaced the spark plugs but it didn't help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

did that crap they sell for 3.65 a gallon eat up the inside of fuel line and clog something up??,on mine the line from the bulb to the motor was trashed, lucky mine got a fuel/water seperator on the engine, and a inline micro filter before the injectors, maybe this will help ya......

I run into the same problem but it was the opposite. Mine would idle fine but when you put it in gear it would die. I found out that the stator was a two speed stator and my low speed was out, from 1 to 1800rpm the low speed in the stator works and from 1800 and up the high speed picks up. You might need to have it checked out by a mechanic.

Check the simplest things first. Take your prop off and make sure there is no tangled line or rope around prop shaft. Probably not it but worth a check.

I had that same problem with my 1993 2.5L 200hp merc. changed everything you could think of. it was the wireing harness.plus gas these days is not worth a crap emoEnforce

It could be several things. It could be a stator as mentioned before as it has a transition at around 2500 RPM. It could be a switchbox. It could even be a ECU )computer) to a TPS. Many possibilities. If you have a timing light or access I can walk you though a test for the ignition to see if it is falling off. This will help determin what direction you need to go. Just my .02
