I fished out of grasshopper last night with my cousin,I thought I had found something when I saw one of my monday night pals comming down the river towards us. Apparantly I have stumble upon the hump he's been spankin us off of
the past few weeks,no words exchanged or any thing like that but he was starring
over my way alot!
Anyway I left after catching a couple of spots off it to check a brushpile I planted in the early spring for pre-spawn bass in a little cove just up the river from grasshopper. When I got up there I was really surprised to see TONS of milfoil
had grown in it since the last time I had been in there. We fished it with small finnesse worms, spinnerbaits, and topwaters but never got a bite. The only fish that we got was out towards the mouth of the cove on a wind blown point.
The water was really warm in there bout 85 to 86 and relativlely shallow 6-8
ft at the deepest.
After that we rode back down to fish the back of sale creek and got a couple more spots back there.
Funny thing is,everytime we rode past that hump(just out from the mouth of sale creek)some one different was fishing it!talk about a community hole!Take a number and get in line!

Were they fishing the hump below or above Sale creek? I have never fished either but I would expect either could be great spots. They probably have some brush planted on them. If they have grass on them I would expect that fish get up on top of them in good numbers. How much water is over the top of them? It's great to hear that Grasshopper Creek has a good amount of grass. Grass with stumps/wood on outside bends of creek channels is where I would start. I still need your email address. I was just looking at the maps, if I were you I would check out the up stream end of the up stream hump as it looks like there are really two humps and a small depression between the two humps. The upper is very small but the depression between the humps could really concentrate fish. Good luck ranman.

Below sale creek.First chanel marker below it really. It is about 16 to 20 feet deep and we did find alot of brush on it but no grass. To deep I guess. I didn't
fish grasshopper creek so I don't know if it has grass or not, the place I found grass is called smith slough on the map I have(by the way I got a new one from tva yesterday thanx) Those guys were on the other side(grasshopper side) fishing below the red channel marker where the creek channel comes out. But I think they wanted to be on my side!

ranman, have you ever fished just downstream of the bluff there just downstream from Smith sough? If it's not too deep I would expect some good spots or maybe even some good largemouth in the eddie there. I would expect that a fair amount of wood would be piled up there if a good eddie is formed just downstream of the bluff. Or maybe even in Waddell slough. It sounds like you've been fishing a fair amount, that's great!!!!! Don't forget to spend a good amount of time with that wife of your's that let you buy that great boat.

Fished it alot last year about this time.I was on my last paid vacation last year and got on a senko pattern on these deep banks about the time the willow/mayflies came out. Did pretty good but mostly small fish. There was a tree that fell on that bluff last year that held alot of little fish, but I really have not spent much time down on that part of the river this year.
The wife and kids are in Daytona this week along with her parents and I haven't
had any work so I've been doing alot of goofin off!
Feast or famine, thats the life in this type of work!

Well, I hope that you get enough feasts to overcome this famine. When the wife and kids are away it is easier to get out and do some serious fishing in my experience also.

It's on the TVA maps but I haven't looked at the Atlantic mapping map as I don't own one. The Atlantic mapping map seems like a pretty good map but there is so much more detail that it doesn't show and you would have to use a magnifying glass to see it if it is there. The only problem with the TVA maps is that they are not waterproof and there are many of them so I carry them in a tube. I am going to buy some clear plastic in the next few days to preserve them and make them waterproof. The prices have over quadrupled since I bought mine so it's time for me to protect them so I won't have to replace them. Some of them are pretty warn and I have marked them up but I guess I'll have to stop that when I cover them.

Can anyone tell me how far down the lake the milfoil has come? I haven't seen any down in the Harrison bay area yet. I may be wrong but I thought when I was out on the boat with the family that I saw a ball of it floating out the mouth of Ware branch. Has anyone seen any downstream from there? If so where.
