I bought a new auto pilot trolling motor. I'm not sure I like how far out it has to sit to deploy. The mounting base isn't hardly long enough to get all the bolts in. (I have a pro craft fiberglass bass boat). Anyone here know what I'm talking about. The other problem is that when it sits up that far, my cover won't go over it and when I hook my boat to the trailer, I will have a hard time having enough room to get up close enough to the front to lean over and hook it. I like the ideai of the auto pilot and also the low profile pedal. Any thoughts? Someone else have a similiar problem? Thanks in advance!

1st id like to say emoWelcome to the forum. 2nd call John Swallows he works on trolling motors and may be able to help you out 423-479-7816.

What you need is a Minn Kota Quick Release Trolling Motor Mount. I have mounted a Minn Kota Auto Pilot on my second boat using this mount. It mounts a little back from the bow and when you release it your motor slides forward to deploy. Cabela's has them. You can also easily remove your motor when parked away from home.

First of all emoWelcome I have a name of a trolling motor guy at my office. When I get there this morning will send you a pm.
