"FINALLY"! After having 4 days of having to be off the water (Mon-Thur), my partner and I got out on Friday to check on some fish for the ABA Bass Tournament on Saturday. We found an area that was holding some good quality fish even with the wind blowing from 20-30 mph. The wind made it extremely tough but with the fish we had to hit and shook off we felt pretty confident so we decided that we would go to this area and spend the day and "Play the game for 5 Bites". We had our chances to blow this tournament out though, and of course as most tournaments go, we failed to do so. We did however come out with a 5th. place finish with a little over 21 lb. and Big Fish honors with an 8.59 lb. giant. The frustrating part was the first fish I had on that morning was over 5 lb. and with my normal luck it came off. "Then", after catching the "Big-Un", it wasn't long when I stuck another 'Big-Un' that we felt was close to being as big as the other one, and of course it too came off. That's fishing! Sometimes the Stars just line up perfectly and sometimes they're just off a little, which in this case evrything went as planned with that we got very few strikes but the ones we got were some "good-uns". Losing 2 big fish was frustrating and would have put us in the 30 lb. range, but like I say thats fishing and you just can't seem to get them all to cooperate the way you want. We were very happy though with what we got and getting big fish honors was just a little icing on the cake. All of our fish came on Choo Choo Lures Swimjigs in 2-4 ft. of water. This kind of fishing required some heavy equipment like 20 lb. Vicious Line and 7'3"-7'6" Extra Heavy Action Hammer Rods. My partner Tracey and I had the right lure and the right equipment, "BUT" just could not finish the "Game of 5 Bites", but "Wow" we came close. It was a blast and we look forward to giving it another shot soon. Get out and have some fun. Capt. Mike Carter
