I have a couple of interesting stories to report from the trip I had today with a couple of gentlemen that were here for their first experience of Lake Guntersville, and an experience it was. I had them starting out with using small swimbaits and Choo Choo Swimjigs around grass lines in 6-8 ft. of water and they were able to put a few fish in the boat to make for a great day on the lake. The hard wind made fishing a lot of areas tough for these guys, and it also seemed to be blowing a lot of "new trash" around the lake that also made fishing a lot of areas not only tough, but an absolute "disaster"! The next story consists of a couple of gentlemen riding up the lake in their boat with one of them doing a great job of impersonating the great "George Washington crossing the Delaware" pose on the front deck of their boat while the boat was "on plane". One, this is against all Coast Guard Rules to be standing on the front deck of a boat while big motor is in operation. Two, this is also "extremely" dangerous, especially if "YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING"!!! When we seen the guys coming up the river I told my clients that this was going to be interesting because they were running in less than 2 ft. of water and there were stumps in that area. We were just watching the show when "George Washington" on the front deck all of a sudden did a face first fall to the front of the boat due to them hitting one of the many stumps along the river flats. I really think that he would have been better off falling into the water instead of on the trolling motor, and maybe a little less painful. There is no doubt in my mind that this guy learned a valuable lesson in trying to do a "dangerous impression", especially in unfamiliar waters. Have fun, but be safe at it. Mike Carter
