I just don't know what it is about Lake Guntersville that cause people to lose all respect and ethics when it comes to fishing. I got out this morning to look for a few fish for some trips I have booked for the weekend and started out in an area with 0 boats in sight, and after catching a couple of fish on a Bull Shad I looked and a boat was heading straight for where I was fishing. This was not so bad until the guy that was by himself decided that with all of the square miles of water around us he wanted to shut down and start fishing right behind me, less than a cast from my boat. The thing that got me about this is with all of the water around us, this is the spot he wanted no matter who or how many boats were there. No problem, instead of a crowded conflict I decided to just move to another area. Once again when I pull up and catch a couple of fish on a Producer Swimbait I look around and a boat with "3" people in it wanted to idle around less than a cast beside me and scan what I was fishing. I just let my lure lay in the water while these guys made a couple of rounds beside me and decided once again that without any conflict to leave again. Well let's try round 3 now. I pulled up the trolling motor and moved to another area, and with 0 boats anywhere close here come a boat heading straight toward me "again". I was thinking there is no way this can happen 3 times in a row, in less than 3 hrs, but that's what I get for thinking! This guy also by himself idled right over the spot I was fishing and I know he had to see my big swimbait launch just in front of his boat, but I guess not because he never looked around, he just kept on idling right in front of me checking his "electronics". I have seen these situations get considerably worse over the last several years and especially the last few years. I know that you have those "community holes" that everyone fishes beside each other, and these are the areas that I completely avoid, especially on the weekends. "BUT" when you are in an area and there are no boats in sight, I mean nowhere close and someone decides to shut down and just fish right behind, beside, or in front of you goes to show the lack of ethics that this lake and fishing in general has come to. When my 3rd. excursion was over with I decided it was time to pick up my toys, and go load them up and go home. Well sometimes it's fun and when it is you get the opportunity to enjoy it for a little while. Mike Carter
