Well, after having a long week on Toledo Bend Lake in Louisiana all last week, getting back on the Big-G was a great relaxing relief. The fishing on Toledo Bend was very tough with all of the bad wind and weather conditions that we had, but it was still a great experience to get to fish this very huge lake and to see that the patterns there are very similar to patterns on Guntersville Lake. Back to Guntersville, I had a couple of clients yesterday that wanted to get out a few hours and fight the extreme heavy boat traffic and see if we could catch a few fish, and hopefully teach these guys a little about fishing ledges. With the "massive" number of boats and jet-skis on the water it didn't effect the ledge bite as bad as what I thought it would. We started catching fish on the first ledge we started on and even with the trolling motor spending a majority of the time out of the water with the constant boat waves, it didn't bother the fish at all. We were using 1/2 and 3/4 oz.jigs from Choo Choo Lures in Oh-Baby colors and had no problem knowing when the fish hit because of how hard the strikes were. We wasn't able to really get what we would consider a picture fish, but we had a lot of just good quality 2-3 lb. fish, and that still made for a great day and a great lesson in ledge fishing for a short afternoon. The grass has really started coming up on some of the shallwoer ledges and this will only improve the ledge fishing the next few weeks. If you want to get away from the daytime heat and traffic I strongly suggest trying some night fishing, this is the time of year to see just how relaxing it can be out on the lake at night and also to see just how much fun it is to have a big Bass "hammer" a slow rolling spinner bait. Have fun, Mike Carter www.anglingadventures.info
