The last few days on Guntersville Lake have been "wild n windy"! I went out Friday alone to find a few fish for the Captain D's Casting for Kids Tournament out of Goose Pond, and despite the wind and the cold front that had moved in the fish at least cooperated a little. The tournament was an absolute success with a tremendous turn out of anglers to fish for the $10,000 prize and to help out a great cause. My congrats goes out to the winners, Turtle n Moody with a little over 23 lbs. The thing that concerned me was that it only took 15 lbs. out of 200 boats to get a top 30 check, WOW!!, this just aint the "Big-G" it use to be. My partner and I came out with a 14th. place finish with over 18 lbs. and lost 3 "good-uns" that really cost us, but that's typical fishing, especially typical "tournament" fishing. The fish have been coming from around Eel Grass in 8-10 ft. of water on Producer Swimbaits and Choo Choo Lures Jigs and Spinnerbaits. Today I had a little change of pace, I got the opportunity to take a Gentleman and his 2 sons out for a day on the lake chasing around some Bream n Bluegill. These fish are showing signs of moving in, and are getting really aggressive around their bedding areas. We found a lot of beds that have not been worked yet, but we also found some that had a lot of fish in them. These little guys can put up a fantastic fight and can show any young angler a great time. The Bass have moved out to their deeper haunts, the Shad spawn is in full swing, and the Panfish have started to make their move in to start their bedding cycle. Just got to love it!!! Get out and have some fun. Mike Carter
