I got out yesterday evening with the gentleman from last week for 1 more trip to the "Big-G" before he left to go back to Nebraska. He wanted to try and see if he could catch a fish on a Bull Shad with his new Hammer Rod he had just purchased, and I think just catching a fish was an understatement. We did however start out using Choo Choo Jigs around some shell beds and got a few solid fish to start the day. Then the real fun started! We went to a couple of areas that had some submerged deeper grass and right when he was saying he would like to see a "Big-Un" explode on his Bull Shad, it happend, again, and again. He finally got to see just how these fish, especially the "Big-Uns", absolutely erupt on these baits. With all of that major excitement he also caught a Hybrid Bass, a Largemouth and Smallmouth mix. It had the markings of both fish with a lateral line of a Largemouth and the coloration of a Smallmouth, and with the jaw not coming back past it's eye it made it obvious what it was. This was one pretty fish and it "exploded" on his Bull Shad and put on an acrobatic show. A fantastic evening with some great "Bull Shad Action". One other note, we will be having our next Lake Guntersville Conservation meeting on July 31st. at Goose Pond Bait n Tackle at 3pm, we look forward to a great turnout and getting everyone to help in trying to narrow down some plans to persue to help keep the lake on top of the list as one of the top lakes in the country. Get out and have some fun. Mike Carter
