Today was one of those breaks that was well worth waiting for. It consisted of getting the opportunity to fish a different lake and have some great success at doing so. I got out on Weiss Lake today with a gentleman that want to look for a few fish and a few patterns to use for his stay there on the lake. We would only fish each area for a short time to help in covering a lot more different patterns and areas of the lake, but during those short times they were very productive with some solid fish. We stayed around shallow structure, stumps, docks, and grass with Choo Choo Shakers, Rocker jigs, and swimjigs, and had some solid success on each. The water on Weiss is finally getting back to normal with the level within a few inches of full pool and the surface temps averaging in the low to mid 60's. Man this lake can be an absolute "blast"! Have some fun. Mike Carter

Great report, Man you get them every where you go emoToast Mike does anybody in the chatt area sell the Choo Choo Shakers ?

Thanks for the report. That's some good looking fish.
I'll be heading down April 28 & 29 to give it a try bass fishing. I've never fished it before so we're going total blind. Looking forward to fishing a new lake.

If you have never been to Weiss just be very careful while running around. Some very dangerous water over there, I have been fishing it and running it in a boat for almost 40 years and still it keeps my attention every time I go. If you catch the fish in the right mood can be a great day of fishing though.

Thanks, I wish Lake Master had it available because that would make things a whole lot easier. (I'm spoiled with Chickamauga LOL)
I'm going with a local Chattanooga bass club so hopefully someone will help show me around.

Well the maps really help, but the danger at Weiss is two-fold. One is what new has come down the Coosa River with the latest rain and hung up either at water level or just under the surface. The second one is after a rain that lake seems to get more floaters than any other lake I have ever seen. The lake can come up 3 inches overnight and all of a sudden you have 50 new floating logs. The pole markers have helped running around that lake, I learned the lake before the pole markers, and they are for the most part right. Luckily the lake is pretty much at full pool right now and that really helps. Good luck with the fishing, if you like fishing docks you will be in LOVE because you could start on a Monday, fish 8 hours everyday for a week and never get to fish half of them.
