My 15 year old son Kyle fished his first tournament tonight. We had been fishing for about an hour and he had caught some slicks. He finally cranked one in the right spot and WHAM. After struggling with it for a few seconds he got it headed toward the boat. I had just said "Don't force it" when he lifted his rod tip up and sort of raised it out of the water far enough to allow it to shake. I could see a big bucket mouth and a rattle trap flying back toward the boat. He is sick over it and very sure we would have won the tourney if he had got it in the boat. I guess he has a "Big Fish that got away" story to tell now.

He did pretty good for his first taste of tournament fishing. I sort of lost count but I think he caught 12 slicks and the big one that got away.

Man tell Kyle thats really good for his first tourney. Yeah the fishing was tough so if he'd a got that one in, it'd been over. Thanks for running the deal last night. I wasn't sure I was gonna be there. I thought I was gonna hafta do the old birthday dinner routine but, My wife asked me "what do you want to do for your birthday?" and I told her I'd really just like to go fishing. So we did. I never would have thought that those 2 fish would get us paid! LOL. It was a birthday miracle. I think ya'll just let me win cause it was my birthday. LOL Those scales you got are awesome! They're so much nicer than the little postal scales I've been making due with. I hope you'll bring those next week. You really did a great job running the deal. Nice scales, Note book to write down the entries and names, Labeled money bags, Blast off horn, Posted the winning weights with names before I could even get to a computer,... You got it going on. I'll try to make the Friday Night Wolftever dogfight if you're running it cause you've really got a good organized system. Thank you sooo much Kirk. Everybody come out next Monday. 6-9pm 15" on green 18" on brown. $20/boat $5/optional big fish.
