I want to ask from the experince what is a brand of regular monofilament that seems to be out performing other in tis durability? And are there anyone that is using mono for 2 years without increased breaking problems?

I've been using Berkley/Trilene Sensation in 14lb-test for many years with no problems...ever. Although I'm a fluoro freak, I keep one baitcaster spooled with mono for topwater.

Berkley makes two excellent monofilament lines. Trilene XT and Big Game. I use Big Game for all of my moving lures like blades and crankbaits. Neither has ever failed me. Also, braid is the only line I keep on a spool longer than 6 weeks whether it's mono or fluoro.

If you buy monofilament in bulk spools, then you should freeze it after spooling up your reels. The line will not lose any of its tensile properties over time if it is frozen.

Two years? Really? Get a spool of Big Game, but don't leave it on for two years. Big Game is as tough as nails and pretty cheap. No mono is meant to stay on a reel for two years though ... or even a year.

I'm like Rob here. If you are getting even 1 year out of mono then you aren't fishing enough. I get 2 trips maybe on light stuff (2 to 4 pound) Mr Crappie
About 5 or 6 trips on medium stuff (6 to 8 pound) Fluroclear, Offshore Angler, P-Line, Berkely. I get a season out of the big stuff (25 to 40 pound) P-Line of Offshore Angler.

i agrre with most of these but being as cheap as i am i don't change my mono unless i end up cutting it off because of a backlash. if i did start having breakage i would cut it off but i hardly ever loose fish (because i hardly ever catch any)lol. i used to use trilene and stealth braid but now i use stealth for frogs ect 80 lb. and all my other line is bass pro shops excel which does have more stretch than i like but most of the guys in our club have found out it is strong and you have very few knot breaks like we all used to have with the older stren. the excel is supposed to be sigma and everyone in the club using it has had good luck with it. i use a lot of 10 lb and haven't even noticed any failures with 6 or 7 year old line. i'm sure most will balk on this but i am of the belief that if it ain't broke don't replace it. lol. i'm just telling you my experience with it. as a matter of fact the only fish i can remember breaking off was just 2 weeks ago on logan martin i caught a largemouth off the bed that was every bit as big as 6lbs and got her to the boat and she headed down for one last run and my line snapped at the knot but it was the first time i had used (new) viscious floro. in 8 lb test, which i had caught 4 or 5 2-3 lbers on and i should have retied also my drag had been working fiine but for some reason on that fish it didn't slip much at all? one thing i will do is use larger floro. and retie more after catching better fish.

i have tried alot of them and berkley trilene xt all the way 1# i bought a spool of p line halo florocarbon the other day to try and didnt like it at all after about 2 hours it was all laying in the bottom of the boat in knots 20 bucks wasted!emoBang emoBang emoEnforce emoAngry emoAngry emoEvil emoDoh emoDoh emoBawl emoBawl emoCrazy emoCrazy emoBadLanguage emoBadLanguage emoTskTsk emoTskTsk
