thats a nice deer don't know where it was killed but i know there are alot of deer in that area i have seen alot of them on jersey pike and cromwell rd including two big ones.

Great buck... but what does "controlled hunt" at Chattanooga Airport mean?

I assume it's "hired guns" brought in to thin out deer and prevent runway accidents?

i got a draw hunt there about 8 or 9 years ago, bow only hunt. i went and scouted the only days you were allowed to do so before the hunt. and the area we were allowed to hunt was so thick you could have threw rocks in it and none would have never hit the ground. and very few trees to climb and hunt from a stand. didn't take me long to pack up and leave emoBadLanguage also i think they let to many hunt at once also not enough area to hunt that many people and be sucessfull. jmo emoAngler

At the Airport hunts, all you need to do is find a creek crossing stomp, you out a hiding spot within range and set and wait. They will come to the crossings every time folks are on the property.

Looking at those forked tines that thing must have been sniffing some jetfuel.

It was killed with a bow. The storey I got is the airport authority contacted the Chatt Police Dept inviting the archers to come & thin the deer population down. One of CDP's finest killed the deer on 9/29 around 9am. 14 pt & dressed just over 200 lbs. Very impressive archery harvest especially around here in southeast TN.

Interesting, I wonder how they can get away with that? Deer are regulated by TWRA, not the Airport so it should have been a public draw of some kind. I wonder what TWRA has to say here??.....anyone.....anyone....

The way i understand it, the deer at the airport endanger lives on the aircraft on the runways. Being declared a problem you can get standing permission to remove them. Back prior to 9-11 the public was invited to special draw hunts.

spure the best i can remember it was a twra draw hunt that was held, it was held at chester frost park one evening. i think they held 3 diffrent date draw hunts, i got drew for the last one. but it's been a few years ago.

They no-longer have the TWRA drawn hunt for the airport. The airport authority allows a few people to hunt it each year with archery only. I have a friend who hunts it. You basically gotta "know the right person to be on the list".
Thats a beautiful buck!

my son said he wants to kill one like that this weekend and wants to know who is that right person we need to talk to at the airport. lol
