Well apparently lots of folks went after the Chickamauga Tailwater cats today. I watched Coondog catch his 17-lber. (See: http://www.chattanoogafishingforum.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=2265&posts=2) It was a sight. He had it on fairly light tackle and it took him FOREVER to boat that fish. It was fun to watch... we could tell he was tickled. emoSmile
I had a real good day with Rick Dutton, his son Ryan and friend Brandon. We smoked 'em pretty good. A few monster bluegill... some for the frying pan and some for catfish bait. The biggest catfish we boated was 13 lbs. Had a lot of fish in the 5 - 10 lb. range however, and Rick got broke off by one BIG cat. And while bluegill fishing we tagged a 5.4 lb. smallmouth. Sad to say but I caught him. The guide isn't supposed to do that! emoBang All I could think of was all the CBA boys who locked through and went roaring downriver. Caught him on the basic 1/16th oz. tube jig tipped with a wax worm. Like I said, we were trying to catch bluegill for bait. I figured it was a catfish or a drum until that big brown head thrashed the top. emoEek But there were plenty of fish to go all around and a good time was had by all.
