Went out last thursday morning and got settled in a good spot far back in the mountains WAY before daylight. Enjoyed a beautiful sunrise and many creatures around me (squirrels, hawks, moles -yes, I saw a mole) until just after 8 oclock. I heard steps in the leaves that were definitely not squirrels moving. I shifted my eyes, didn't see any deer, shifted my body in the right direction to get ready for a shot, and when I looked up again there was a doe about 70 yds down the hill looking straight at me. I guess the first time I looked for deer down the hill I didn't see her, but she had been there the whole time. I froze and she stared me down, stomping for a couple minutes. I didn't move and she decided it was her imagination, so she headed for me up the hill, followed by three others. It was a really thick area where a cedar thicket met hardwoods, and every time she stopped she was directly behind a tree. I had her in my sights ever since I saw her, but I wasn't able to take a shot until she was only 15' from me.
This brings my four year hunting record to three does and two bucks (both 8 pts). Time to even it out!
On that note, here are a few of my game cam pictures of bucks that I would be more than willing to take, along w/ a pic of this latest doe. Enjoy.
