Had my boat out for the third time yesterday after work. Its a 00 201d Cobra w 225 opti max w/26 pitch 4 blade trophy. it has an incredible hole shot and not bad top end 72.8 mph gps
The problem I’m having is when I’m wide open and let off the gas the rear jerks to the left and I mean hard. Seems like it has a lot of torque, doesn't pull that hard either while driving.
The prop shaft is 3.25" below the pad. Any way to correct this with a new prop?

Not familiar with that boat...But most boats do not like running full speed then let off of. The bow drops and then it bow steers. Ususally the front of the boat will dart to the left. That in itself is dangerous. it is like if you get one to start chine walking that is ususally the worse thing to do is to let off. Best thing to do is put the boat into a hard left hand turn as trimming down to get controll of the boat. Then try again. Instead of letting off the throttletry to trim down some then let off and see how she likes it. All boat are DIFFERENT and react differently. Don't see a prop doing that. That gearcase may not be a ratcheting gear case (gear set) and is acting like a parachute when letting off.

James that is what it is like, a parachute. The bow doesn't drop. I guess i don't need to let off so fast.
What kind of prop can I put on to make it go faster? It is all stock.

Thanks,

10 million dollar question.... I can put 10 props of the same pitch on it and each one will react the differently. All I can tell you is to find someone with that boat/motor set up and hope they have done all the testing and copy theirs. You may call the boat manufacture and they could possibly tell you. Had a friend that had a norriscraft with a merc. he call and they told him where to run the prop height and to run a OMC 27 STX on it. Boat was fast. They may help!!!
