Okay, so I have an 82lb thrust motorguide TM. I took it to a shop to have a new shaft and bearing put on. I got it back andnow the controls on the foot pedal are all jacked up. When it is on constant on it doesn't do anything. The high bypass works fine and the momentary on is constant on Without pushing the switch down with your foot. When I push it down with my footit stops the motor and a bright lightcomes on where the arrow is when I have it on the momentary on position. It's like it is hooked up completely opposite.I had a guy suggest that the wires were connected wrong when the bearing was installed. So I called the guy who worked on it and he said there was no way he hooked it up wrong b/c it was color coded. He told me to switch the wires on the switch in the pedal andput the common where the norm open is and norm open where the common is. I haven't tried this yet b/c I have been out of town. I just don't understand why I would need to change the wires at the switch in the pedal if they were never touched in the first place and it worked just fine before I took it to him. He had it for almost 6 weeks, so needless to say I missed some prime fishing time and I just want to get this working right. Thanks

He screwed up somewhere.. He had it so long he most likely forgot how he took it apart. I can understand not wanting to take it back to to that guy, However I would make sure he understands you have issues getting it right. Ask for a quick turn around OR ask him to cover the cost for it being repaired by someone else who will not take Two Months.

Yeah I just got home and switched the wires on the foot pedal switch and it is the exact same thing. I also notice when I am running it on constant on or momentary that it fluctuates with it's power going up and down. I wasn't sure if that had to do with the wiring also b/c I have two brand new batteries that work fine on everything else. So frustrating

Ok another update. I have it turned off and now that light in the directional button is glowing really bright and flickering on and off. Craziest thing I've seen. It must either be possessed or the wiring is messed up. I unplugged it just in case it burns the juice in my batteries. Anyone know what that light means when it comes on and if I take the top off is there anything going to spring out or fall out that I need to worry about?

All the light is for is to illuminate the directional arrow. It shouldn't come on unless the button on the foot pedal is pressed. There's not much that could call out of the top of the unit if you remove the cap. There's several normally open and normally closed contacts on the foot switch. If one of these are wired wrong or crossed you could have several problems. Thing is you have an off position, 5 different speeds, constant on, and wide open. That leaves a lot of room for error. That's why I write these things down if I take something apart. Lol

And all those problems you are having is why I only let Johnny Swallows in Charleston work on my trollers.

Thanks, yeah it's a wire issue. I opened it up today and played with the wires and it was going nuts. I've been in contact with john. Super nice guy. Probably will have to take it to him tomorrow.

I'd take it back to the first guy and show him what it's doing. If it was working before you took it to him he's got to realize he obviously screwed something up. If he still refuses to acknowledge his mistake and correct it the let the public bashing begin, starting with the BBB and CFF.

I bought a fortrax from Minn kota 80 pound thrust... It aint worth fixing.. I had your trolling and the same problem.

Last Update. So this was a hard one to swallow when I found this out. The reason my module went bad was b/c the person who put my motor back together crossed the wires which caused the module to go bad. Costly mistake at close to $400. I am pretty upset to say the least. The guy never would even call me back to look at it again. Just had to vent one last time and take this one as a learning experience.
