I have always been a motorguide man for past 25yrs and have had great success out of them,so yesterday when i was below the dam fishing my 8yr t/m started smoking and the circuit board fried and burned through, pulled off the river and took boat home and started calling around to buy a replacement that was in stock so i could go back fishing, called everybody around and 60 miles out and NOBODY stocks m/g !!!! emoBang emoBang Was just wanting to get 70# thrust or above and finally went to Sportsman Warehouse and bought a Fortrex 80# and got it home and complete change out with mounting and wiring and removing the motorguide took 2 hrs and 20 min!!!!! emoToast emoToast I should do this for a living as good as I am at it,so got back to the river at 4pm,to look for some spots, It just seems crazy that as many Bass fisherman we have that companies dont think ahead on these things, and stock motors oh well Rant is over and looking forward to my new 1000.00 Fortrex,it is a beast in the current and never used much battery with the var speed settings and is solid built,so Minn Kota it is for me from now on,just wanted to share my experience for those that it might help in future purchases of T/M emoWorthy

I thought I really got a deal when I bought my digital 70 model. Its a total POS. It didnt work out of the box, I took it to Bunch for warranty repair before the warranty was up and they replaced most all of the internals. It started acting up again in 6 months, and now doesnt work at all. NEVER AGAIN.

You will be much happier with the MK, especially when you get used to the button being on the left. LOL! Made the switch from MG in 2002 and haven't regretted it one bit.

John, that button on the left is just messed up for me,don't know how many times i moved the motor and wondered why it was not working !! lol Stumpy that is just cold!!! LOL but i got all the tools for you to do it now

Larry ,M/G are not junk,it's just that nobody has any in stock close by for when you need one quick,if I could have found one I would have bought it in a minute, have had only three since 1986 on the ranger and use them hard, just hope the minn kota gives me as much durability ,so far so good

don't brag too soon. get ready to replace the aluminum hinge brackets that break at nothing. variable speed is the only way to go but both have module failures. not sure which has more failures. if somebody would come out with a decent bracket, they would put mg and mk both out of business.

Consider it a blessing! MK awesome no doubt. 1st thing I do when I buy a boat is put a trex on it. I have put mine through hell and back in rough water and all. Great product you'll love yours

As an explanation instead of an excuse, to carry just the 3 or 4 most popular options of Motorguide and Minn Kota, in the various shaft lengths, a business would have to invest $25K minimum on trolling motors. Most businesses don't have that much money to invest in something that could take months to resell. On the other hand, any authorized dealer can get a trolling motor, Motorguide or Minn Kota, shipped overnight for less than you paid in sales tax 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time our distributors my be out of stock.

You made a great choice on the Minn Kota, even if it was the only thing you could find that day; the Fortrex is a great trolling motor and I think you will thoroughly enjoy the lift assist feature. I sell more of these than any other trolling motor.

I think I would have just ordered an MG and waited. I'm too lazy to change all of that out. haha
it's easier than installing enough bluewater leds to light up 100 yards!????
