I love big swimbaits, unfortunately I have had very little success in my local area with them. I have caught some fish on slammers and bullshads but have had 0 luck on the huddleston. I am in the process of planning a trip to the mountians for 4 days of big bait chucking. During my research I have basically narrowed down my best chance for success are probably lake Burton and lake Chatuga. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I used to fish lake Chatuga alot it is full of 1lb to 3lb spots. we used too fimd the old road beds and fish them with finesse worms. and jigs.you might have to down size a little.ans lake Burton i would throw a trout colored swim bait you may not get many bites but they should be good ones.Let us now how you done.

I haven't had much luck with a hudd either. I've caught a few on the 6in but nothing on the 8. Like you I've caught a bunch on the bullshad my favorite is the triple trout 8 or 10in. Have you put in enough time with it? I've kept up with my bites when I'm using the big swimbaits (over 6in) and I'm averaging 1 bite every 4 hours roughly. As far as the mountain lakes go find the ones that have been stocking trout for years. I'm pretty sure you can find that out online and always stick with the rof12

Thank you guys or the replys, maybe Chatuga is not the best bet for what i want to do?
i proably have not put in the time with the hud I will usually throw it for a couple of hours. then switch back to a confidence bait. I usually will throw it at every dock I come across, then if i get into aome fish I will pick it up and try to produce a big bite. I really just want to get on a trout lake and see if that makes a difference.

I've never fished it on a trout lake either. Been planing to for a few years now but can't find the time to make it over to some of those blue ridge mountain lakes. Maybe one day hopefully.
