3-26-2014 - Chick</p>
Mom was off on spring break this week (she is a lunch lady at the high school) so I burned a couple days of vacation to take her fishing. We met at the house Wednesday and ate lunch at Kevin Browns and was on the water around 1. We are crappie fishing and meat hunting to re-stock mom's freezer. We fished docks all day, looking for pre-spawners. The fish were there but they were hard to catch. We could get 2-4 per dock before they would shut down. We could leave the dock and come back later in the day and get another 2-4 fish. Did this until 3:30 and picked up Polo for the last 2 hours. We stopped at 6:30 so I could clean the fish before dark. </p>
Awesome day on the lake.Cool, but no wind and bright sun made it nice. We ended up boating 43 crappie with at least 20keepers (we threw back a lot of 10.5 inchers). I cleaned 13 that were 11" or larger (anything less than 11 went back). I got two almostTARPS, got a 13.75" and 13.5". Had a lot of 12 inchers. Size was good. Also got a bass of each species, a channel cat, a bluegill, and a warmouth. All fish came on 1/32 oz lead with mostly chartuse baits fishing deep water docks close to spawning flats. Fish were deep and were very negative. Out of 43 crappie we only caught 1 white crappie.</p>
3-27-2014 Riverpark</p>
Mom spent the night and wehit the Riverpark this morning for a couple hours. Hit the crappie hole and managed toget 7 with 3 keepers. Those fish are HARD to catch. Saw tons on the graphbut they get so much pressure they are hard to catch. Got a bluegill and a yellow stripemixed in withcrappie. Gave up and when bass fishing for a little while. Got a 5 lbdrum and that was it. Gave up and went home at 10:30 when the wind started blowing. </p>
