Got out today after work for 3.5 hours. Called half a dozen people and no-one could go so I went solo. Spent the day fishing new water that I had not crappie fished this year. Stayed on the main lake and fished 2 docks and two bluffs. Had a really good day for size, as I boated 20 keepers out of 49 total crappie. Got 2 spots, a largemouth and 7 bluegill too. Fish were suspended anywhere from 5 feet down to 15 feet in water from 10-20 feet deep. I also got a black nose crappie which is a first for me.

On the bluffs, I would ride close, maybe a short cast away and using my side imaging I would look for schools of fish. I found two good spots. One was a laydown that was covered with fish, got 3 keeper crappie (lost another one), a spot and some bluegill off it. Found another bluff spot that was covered in 8-10" crappie. These two spots were areas I have never fished before, just picked a bluff and started scanning.

Water temp was 75 today on the main river. I kept some crappie for dinner and they were good, good, good.

As I was leaving the house, two deer were playing in the neighbors yard. I thought that was a good sign to see wildlife being active before going fishing.

Also, tonight we broke 1000 crappie for the spring. I have seen over 1000 crappie put into either my boat or Jmax's boat. Pretty cool.

You can skip a lot of dead water with that side scan. Congrats on the black nose the1000 crappie and I like to see other wildlife activity, its a good sign that the fish will be active . I think it has a lot to do with the Lunar cycle.
