Well, mom was off this week on spring break (she is a lunch lady at the high school) so today was the day we planned to hit the Riverpark. Got on the water at 9 and only got a 7-8 lb blue cat on our first spot. Idled over to a point that sometimes holds fish and sure enough we marked a bunch. Mom gets a keeperspot right off the bat on the point using apig n jig. I pick up my new mini-rig and proceed to catch 3 nice white bass on it. They killed it and all you could see out of thier mouths were the wires. That was it for that spot.

We headed down river and fished one of my favorite spots. Mom got a nice 7 lb blue on the pig n jig and I got a 7-8 lb drum on a tube. That was it for that that area. Not a single bass which really surprised me.

Headed down river some more and I pick up a little female spot on a crappie jig that was full of eggs. Started throwing my tube again and about 50 yards down the bank I make a cast, pick it up and the fight is on. I could tell it was big fish and thought for sure it was a drum until it came up. HUGE largemouth. As I was fighting her to the boat I could see a lamprey on her head. After a nice fight I lip her and in the boat she goes (as soon as I did the lamprey fell off which is typical). Put her on the digtal scales and it read 7.2 lbs!!!! My 2nd largest LM ever and largest one from Nickajack. I put her back to make more little bass in a few weeks. The lamrey did not make it however as he accidently got crushed by my pliers. emoEvil

Headed back up river and picked up a small crappie, a small redbreast and bluegill all on crappie jigs and called it a day at 11:45.

We boated 8 species today. 1 LM, 2 spots, 2 whites, 2 blue cats, drum, crappie, redbreast and bluegill. If you count the lamprey we had 9 species. Water temp was a cold 59 F and the fishing was very, very slow.

Headed to Kevin Browns for chilie and burger. On the way I counted 18 boats in Harrsion Bay (that I could see). That has to be close to a record. The Chick is screwed.
