Got out this morning with Alvin and we started out on a roll,a "drum" roll (ha). Boated 5 drum right off the bat this morning, with Alvin toping me 4 to 1. Had a 11 lber, 13 lber, 15 lber, 8 lber and a little guy around 5 lbs. Fun, fun, fun.

Gave up on the drum and started drop shotting with Glup minnows. Did not take long before I boat a super nice 4.5 lb smallie. You can usually tell just after hook set if it is a bass or a cat, this one came straight up. Got a few cats and I stick another smallie, this time a pretty 3 lber that was exactly 18" long.

We made a move to a point and I stick and lose a spot over 3 lbs on the drop shot. Tons of gar on this point and we got a few more hits but never boated another fish despite the graph being full of fish the entire time. I guess one spot and a hundred gar.

Hit another slack water area and picked up a LM and two stripe. I lose another spot in the 2 lb range on the rig and Alvin loses a spot close to 3 lbs on a drop shot. The spots just would not stay on.

Hit a dock looking for crappie and boated 3 small ones. Decided to give the smallies one more try. On our first drift I stick what I was sure was a cat on the drop shot. It kept trying to come up but never made it to the surface. I told Alvin if it wasa smallie it was a big one. Sure enough it finally came to the surface and I about crapped my pants. Ended up beinga 5.04 lb smallie, my personal best ever (got a 5.02 a couple of years ago).

Got one more cat and called it a day.

We boated 9 different species today: 2 spots, 2 largemouth, 3 smallies, 2 google eyes, 2 white stripe, 5 drum, 3blue cat,2 channels, and 3 crappie. Water temp was 60 which was a 7 degree improvement from last weekend. The drum came on pig n jig and most of the other fish came on drop shot exept for the crappie came on small jigs and I gota white on the rig. Fun day on the water.
