Had a busy last 4 days of fishing and am doing one massive report.

Thursday 5-16-2013 - Morning - Polo

Took the day off and Polo and I hit the Riverpark. Headed down river to my pets and all I can say is the bend sucks. We fished from the bend down to Williams Island for 2.5 hours and only boated 13 fish total. Sucked big time. Water temp was around 66 or so. Gave up and headed back up river to my favorite banks downtown and started killing fish. We decided to fish for rock bass (google eyes) and while doing so just kept catching bass. Pulled out the crappie jigs to see if the redbreast were up and they were. Started killing them too. We both started fishing crappie jigs for redbreast and were killing them but kept catching spots too. Sometimes we caught more spots than redbreast on areas. Unreal. We fished until 1 or so and called it a day.

For our 6 hours of effort (really 3.5 hours of effort as the first 2.5 sucked) we boated: 6 largemouth (biggest being 3 lbs or so), 60 spots (biggest being 2.75 lbs), 2 bluegill, 42 redbreast (all bigger than your hand), 2 drum and 41 rock bass. 153 fish got into the boat Thursday morning. Most of the damage was done using crappie jigs but we got a lot of bass and google eyes on pig n jigs and tubes.

Thursday 5-16-2013 - Evening - Alvin's Son Will

After lunch and short nap I met Alvin's son Will at HBSP to chase some crappie for Alvin's freezer. Alvin was going to come but got stuck at work. Will wanted to see how we were catching the crappie as I am not sure he believed us. We did the usually main lake dock thing and had 30 with 12 keeps in just over 2 hours. I then took Will in Wolftever to show him how many small ones there are in there and we boated 40 more with only 3 keeper in our last 45 minutes. Will was amazed. For our 3 hours we boated 70 crappie with 15 keepers and 1 lonely bluegill. I got a great pic of my side imaging that shows crappie stacked up around one of the docks in Wolftever. Pretty cool.

Friday 5-17-2013 Cousin Bryan and Cousin Will

It had been 5 years since Bryan and I went fishing. Will (Bryan's son was just born last time) and this trip Will was 5. Unreal how fast time goes. We started off fishing with crappie jigs for redbreasts and were killing them (had to do something easy as Bryan is not used to fishing). I decided to try topwater and got 3 blowups on my first 5 casts. I switched Bryan over to topwater and we killed fish all morning. I let Bryan fish with the torpedo and I threw crappie jigs. Bryan missed way more than he caught as he would jerk too soon, probably had 75-100 blowups and he enjoyed every minute of it.

With about 15 minutes left to go I told Bryan we were going to move over to another area to try to get him a big one. On Thursday we found an area with 3 lb LM working on it and I thought I would get Bryan on one of them. We pull up to the spot and on my 2nd cast I boat a nice 2.5 LM on topwater (crap I caught Bryans fish I thought, so much for being a good guide). Bryan misses a few and I told him it was about time to go (I had a call for work at 1 I had to be on and wanted to get some lunch before the call). I could tell Bryan wanted to stay a little while longer so I told him we would float down the rest of the bank and leave. About 5 minutes later I am watch Bryan work the torpedo back to the boat when one comes up and takes it under without making a splash. I know immediately it was a big fish and I told Bryan it was good one, bigger than he thinks. I could see fish with my polarized glasses but Bryan couldn't. All he knew was the bass was tearing off drag (Bryan cannot fish bait casters, so I had him using my spinning rod with 6 lb fluorocarbon, not the best topwater rod but it was all I had that he could use). About that time the big girl comes about 2 feet out of the water an Bryan about craps his pants. The whole time I am adjusting his drag and after what seemed like a lifetime we boat the super nice 6.25 lb Largemouth. For sure Bryans biggest bass by a factor of 3 and it might have even been his biggest fish ever. He was super excited. A few pics and the big girl went back into the river.

For our 3 hours we boated: 5 largemouth, 34 spots, 2 bluegill, 21 redbreast, and 2 rock bass. 64 fish in 3 hours. Super fun day and one Bryan and his son will not soon forget. Water had warmed up to 67-68. We hit Kevin Brown's and it was awesome as usual and I made my call at 1. It was great to spend time with Bryan and to get to know my little cousin more. He got board with fishing after about the 20th fish so he played his video game most of the morning.

Sunday 5-19-2013 - Parents

Checked the radar at 6:15 this morning and it was clear as a bell. Called my parents and told them to come on down. We got on the water at 7:30 and by 8 we started to hear thunder. emoBang Checked the radar on my phone and sure enough in less than an hour storms had popped up our of nowhere. We fishing for another 30 minutes and bailed.

For our hour effort we boated 7 spots (pops got a 2 lber on topwater), 3 redbreasts and a bluegill. Sucked too as we would have killed them today. Always next weekend I guess.

So for3 days of fishing, 13 total hours of fishing, we boated 299 fish. That is 23 fish per hour getting into the boat, or a fish every 2.6 minutes. Unreal.
