Got out today with my thoughts to see if I could get on some bass at the Riverpark. Bass fishing down there has sucked for me since spring and today I wanted to scout around to see what was going on. Started off on a rip rap bank throwing a crank and got a few hits but no hook ups (probably redbreasts slapping at the bait). Switched to a drop shot and boated a 7 lb channel. Enough of that, I was bass fishing. Picked up the pig n jig and started beating the rip rap. Missed a couple of hits (probably google eyes) and then I had one crush it. Set the hook and at first thought it was a cat, then it came up like it was going to jump but never did. So now I an thinking smallie. It came up again and this time stuck it's head out of the water, but largemouth. Ended up being a 4.6 lber that was laying about 3 feet off dry rip rap. Crazy fish. Boated a 12" spot and hooked a 15 lb or so blue cat on the jig that got off half way to the boat (it was within 3 feet of the bank, crazy how shallow the blues will get).

Gave up on the rip rap and decided to go downtown. Now I forgot to mention the wind. When I left the house not a single leaf was moving. When I got the Riverpark it was white caps and the wind got worse the longer I was there. The banks downtown I wanted to fish were getting beat to death by the wind so I decided to hit the bridge pillings for a minute to see if my cats were still there. Current was way too stong to fish them properly but I gave it 10 minutes anyway. Ended up boating one small blue and headed home.

So 2 hours of fishing, 1 4.6 lb LM, 1 12" spot, 1 7lb channel, 1 small blue and hooked/lost another blue in the 15 lb range. Water temp was 71 degrees. Did I mention the wind blew?

My Droid has the rear facing camera. Works perfect for taking your own picture holding a fish. You can see yourself on the screen as you take it. Pretty cool.
