After reading reports all week knowing my pets were spawning I could not wait to get my mom and dad on the water this morning. We put in at 7:30 and headed straight down to the bend even though I knew my pets had been hammered all week. I wanted to get my dad on a good topwater bite and with the fish finally spawning I was not disapointed.

With my dad throwing a torpedo, my mom throwing a pign jig and me throwing a spinnerbait the spots did not stand a chance. We boated somewhere around 25 bass in the first hour of fishing, with a lot of them coming on top. My parents even got a double. The topwater bite played out as soon as the wind started blowing so we moved to my #2 bank up river.

I gave my dad the spinnerbait and I started using a small crankbait and we continued to catch one spot after another with a few google eyes along the way. We left this bank with 51 bass boated and headed to my #3 and final spot.

Spot #3 is where the google spawn in force and we boated one after another with the occasional spot mixed in. I got the big spot of the day on a crappie jig at 2.6 lbs. Fun fighting a fish this big on 4 lb line. Mom and dad were both now throwing pig n jigs and catching one fish after another.

We left at 11:30 to go eat and the fish were still tearing it up. We ended the day with 62 spots, 3 LM, and 48 google eyes. 113 fish got into my boat today and we easily hooked and lost another 20-25. That equals to 16.25 bass boated per hour and 28.25 total fish boated per hour. I will take those numbers any day.

Perfect mothers day with my parents with many quality fish being caught. The pictures say it all.

We saw you down there, Michael. We were fishing over your fish after you guys had hammered them. We only caught 33. We quit by 10:50. I kept a few spots for dinner tonight and Doc kept the 7 white bass for dinner as well. We let all the rest go. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

You guys were sneaky as I never saw you. Wish you would have came by. Great day out there today and I really enjoyed the normal flow. Got tired of the 45K + water we have had the past couple of months.

Based on what I saw today the spots have spawned out. Happened sometime this past week as most of the fish I caught last Sunday had eggs. Means I missed the 100+ bass days this year but still had fun today. Getting about time to hit the ledges on the Chick.

Another great day MrW. Good to meet your Mom and Dad. Thanks for the report. Michael was kind enough to show me the fine points of dropshotting for which I thank him often. Good fisherman and good guy no matter what JMax says.

Regards, Labman

Mr. Wiskers, after all your help putting us on our 170 fish day on Saturday I was hoping that you would also have a great day with your parents. Great report and great pictures. We didn't have a top water bite on Saturday although I really didn't give it much of a try. After a few casts with no takers I went to worms and spinner baits and never had a reason to try anything else. I'm glad the topwater bite is starting. A lot of wonderful memories were made on that strech of water this weekend. Thanks again for your unselfish help. The most valuable resources of the CFF are all the great people like you that share their reports and expertise.
