<font size="2">We had a great turnout for the MS Benefit on Carters Lake. 46 boats showed up for what most considered to be a tough day on the water. But as always somebody caught em and caught em good. There were two seperate five fish limits of spotted bass pushing 18lbs, and eight spots weighed in over 4lbs today, 1 of those pushing 6lbs! Thanks to all the CFF members who showed up for the tx, there were atleast 6 teams from the CFF and Chattanooga area. Special thanks to this years give away sponsors, Rogne Brown's Tennessee River Guide Service, Premier Reel Cleaning and Repair, S&K Sporting Goods, Coach's Custom Rods, Moon Blacklights, Pro Lures of Dalton, Grants Sporting Goods, and LanierMapped.com. Special thanks as well to Damon Taylor, aka Cutthroat w/ Nuclear Rods for doing a fantastic job as MC for the tournament. Here are todays top ten and big fish prize winners. Paid 5 places and 2 big fish prizes (there were no largemouth weighed so we paid 2 big spots). <u>HOPEFULLY WE'LL HAVE PICTURES UP SOON, LANIERMAPPED.COM FILMED THE WEIGH-IN SO WE'LL HAVE SOME GREAT PHOTOS AS SOON AS THEY CAN GET THEM TO ME.

i wanna see a picture after catching that 4.9 spot the other day i bet a 5 1/2 looked morbidly obese LOL.. I gotta get down to Carters soon i bet they bite good all winter.. sounds like a good lake to learn the float n fly.. really wanna try that this winter

Good TX! Did not disappoint! We had a great time! The highlight was my son's 9lb hybrid on light spinning tackle and a spoon!

Congrats to all the guys who got in the money and fish. My partner and I fished it also with not much luck. We blasted of #29, ran about five minutes up river made one or two cast and got a 2lb spot on a black and red .25oz jig. After that we missed 2 or 3 but never boated another. MANNNN!! I hate Carters. You have really got to know that lake to catch fish.

Sorry you had a tough day. We only boated two in the morning but in the afternoon got on a couple of schools and nailed another 8 with the last two over 2lbs and one of those close to three - I had only fished it twice before the TX (of course once with TritonLB which really counts like 20 times - ha) but I found that the electronics is critical on that lake and you have to be real patient on the schools - like just when you think to give up they start to turn on - we also keep tying on different lures if they did not bite the first presentation after a reasonable time. It was a good TX and I hope you will be like me and go fish it again.
Tight Lines!

I don't think Fishnvol and I fished the same lake as everyone else. We struggled and then struggled some more, but to no avail. I got 2 good bites really early on a frog fished over some pine needle mats but neither hooked up and would not come back. We totally bombed on the alleged buzzbait bite. I did manage a 3" bream on a spoon and right after that Chris nailed 2 yellow bass and a flathead cat that was pushing 20lbs. A little while later Chris caught another yellow. After that we both had about 2 more bites each and they were lame to say the least. Yes, it was a very humiliating day for us, but I will say that you have to fish differently down there. Louie said that several of their fish were suspended over 90ft of water..........so that pretty much let us know most of what we were doing wrong. Carter's has to be one of the prettiest lakes I've ever seen though. We finally just gave up around 2:15 and went back to the truck to listen to the Vols get hammered.

Yea Davo, Carters is extremely tough to fish and most folks don't realize that until they go give it a try. Louie knows his stuff down there so when people see his reports of good catches, people think they can just show up down there and do the same. But that is far from the truth. Louie just knows that lake like the back of his hand and he has worked hard over the years to get as good as he is down there. I highly recommend folks to get a guided trip with him down there and let him teach you the ins and outs of the lake. Even then, the fishing is tough as you and Fishinvol discovered, and Chris has been down there with Louie a few times.
