Me and a work buddy fished the monday evening dogfight out of mud creek. We started back in the back of the creek trying to get on the frog bite, but never got a blowup.. Finally ran downriver and fished around the mouth of town creek and near belfonte. I fished my big ole worms near the grass and never had a hit..tough for both of us... needless to say we never caught a fish.... winners weighed in about 13 with second about 10... saw 3 or 4 4 lbers and one that went 5 and a half.. nobody would say what they caught them on..imagine that .... fishing seem to be tougher down on the G this year.

I take it that you are talking about the Mud creek in G'ville, not the one on Chickamauga? Do you think that the fishing in G'ville has slowed down any since earlier in the summer?

Fishing has definately been down on Guntersville. I dont know what its been, probably the 10 tournaments there every weekend :(

The flipping bite hasn't been very good, maybe things will get better as the matts begin to form up.

I have heard that its been kinda slow. My old fishing partner and me went a couple weeks ago. We put in at the hwy 117 ramp on the river. We had 14 keepers, 12 were Spots, 2 Largemouth. Several of the Spots were between 2 and 3 pounds. We caught most on points with jigs and Beaver type baits. There was plenty of current that day and the Spots were right on the drop from points to the river channel, the few Largemouth we caught were early in scattered grass. We actually caught a few fish at the plant discharge at Widows creek, the temp guage on his boat was reading 106 degrees. I put my hand in the water because I didnt believe it was that warm, it was. I have no idea why those fish were there.

Seems like the frog bite should be getting good any time now.

if you go back and look at the last couple of years in the b f l super tournaments you can see that the fishing is tough in sept.

I would expect it to get better towards the end of the month as it should start to cool down. I tend to do pretty well on the Chick in Sept.
