Do any of you guys that fish Wolftiever reguarly know why it has stayed extremely stained and muddy after a good rain. It's been taking 4 to 5 days for it to clear up. I've fished it reguarly for about 5 or 6 years now, and can't remember it ever being this bad. Someone at the boatramp suggested to me that it possibly may be due to the construction on I75 or the TNT plant.

Every time it has started to clear up it has rained again. Need several days of no rain and it will clear up.:( Jmax

I've lived on WT for the last 17 years and I haven't noticed any change from what it's been over the years in respect to the muddy water. Once the water is up it usually doesn't get muddy at all. One thing that is interesting is that Wolftever creek does clear up much faster than the Long Savanah branch. In fact often the water is very muddy in the mid creek but if you look for clean water way back in Wolftever it is much clearer after two days or so. Most people don't go far back into WT when the water is down but it can be a good place to go. There is a huge spring back in the Wolftever branch that you can get back into when the water is up but you can only get there by sea doo as the water is very shallow and the stream is very narrow and often has a few trees down over it. Once you get way back in there it opens up a bit and gets 5 or more feet deep and is crystal clear with cold water grasses growing in it. It's also very cold water back there even when the creek is 90 degrees or better. It's really strange to be back in there in the summer. There are bluegills and some little bass back there and they are easy to see because the water is crystal clear from top to bottom. I think that it's used as a water supply for a subdivision back there somewhere off of Snowhill road.

i was told there is new construction, maybe road work close to the creek by the interststerun goes right into the creek, i ve noticed it myself its been years since i have seen it do like that !!!!!!

I came back from a trip and got home too late to see the water. I got home from work last night and the water was clear, or as clear as it usually gets behind my house in the winter. I live near the split of WT and Long Savanah creeks. I don't know when it rained last but the water is good in the mid creek. In the winter there is a mud line that forms in some particular areas and sometimes the mud stays suspended and until that muddy water is pushed out of the creek there are some areas that stay muddy. I do look for water that is somewhat clear when I fish WT and so I either fish in front of or behind the muddy water most of the time. It's neat living where I do because I can watch the mudline come down the creek and then watch it clear up again and almost invariably WT clears up before Long Savanah does.
