Me and a friend are thinking about a mule deer hunt for next year. I wondered if any of you guys had any advice or experiences you could share with me as this would be my first trip for muleys. Public, private, gun, mzl...etc. Also, have any of you guys ever used a an outfitter for the muleys...any advice?

Whole wheat and I saw them while bird hunting in KS last year. If I had been on my game I could have got him with a long-handled shovel.

Seriously, study the seasons for those states where you can hunt. Many are a draw only for out of state hunters. It may take you a couple of years to get a tag.

You may want to get a guide for your first hunt, or go and explore public land during bird season to plan for the next year, if you like to do it Louis and Clarke style.

My friend and I have been putting in for preference points in Utah for 4 years. We going to apply for a specific region this year, but have no real hopes of getting drawn 1st time.
In Colo I know, other states ? you can probably get a bow tag over the counter.

If I'm driving all that way and spending a bunch, I want big artillery to make it even.
