4-25...Crappie fishing near HBSP marina for three hours. Fishing continues to be good and and more large crappie caught. Deb caught a white crappie close to 14 inches. Berkley Gulp minnows and natural swimbaits.

4-26...The water was more muddy today than the last couple of days and still fairly high. Tremendous action with all species. Water temperature 69 degrees. We caught some more good size crappie...many small bass and channel cats. A few more "tiny" fish also including a crappie and my PB smallest warmouth. emoLaugh We brought 17 crappie home. Jigs - Gulp minnows - natural swimbaits caught our fish today.

Been catchin several little ones of late. that's good for down the road. I remember Mike Jolly telling that one of the best spawns to take place was a year just like this year when we had high water conditions!!!!

Great day to be out on the lake, but I have to say ya'll did better than I did.

Reminds me of 2013. High water conditions...muddy water...logs all over the lake all spring. That year turned out to be one of our wetter years on record. The fishing was off the chart for crappie and bass. Large numbers of white crappie were being caught by most everyone for some reason. The fish survey statistics confirm all of this for 2013.

Nice...how deep were the crappie?

A lot of the crappie have been deep. Some as deep as 25 feet. This was true for all species except most of the small bass were in 8-10 feet. Some of our largest crappie and almost all of the tiny crappie were in the 22-25 foot zone. We caught some shallow but no matter what or where they were all tight to the bottom.
