Excuse me for a "very" late report from Dale Hollow Lake but I've also included a current report from the "Chick" yesterday. Deb and I had planned to go to Tims Ford Lake a few weeks back but it got delayed. When we finally made our trip I guess we missed a turn because we wound up at Dale Hollow Lake - ha ! We were fishing the headwaters of the lake on the Obey River. I wish I could report that we caught some nice "smallies" but the time of year and our location made that next to impossible. However...Deb caught a TARP crappie within 5 minutes of fishing ! It was a "heavy" crappie that measured 14.5 inches. Another good job Deb...now you've caught a TARP crappie on Dale Hollow Lake...and I haven't ! It took me awhile trying to get the "hang" of fishing a highland reservoir but we wound up catching 17 crappie...6 bluegill...2 bream...1 bass...1 channel cat. We used both jigs and "minners" and many of the fish were suspended in deep water. The scenery and water was beautiful and I hope we get a chance to go back in late November or maybe early next spring and focus on some smallmouth fishing on the other end of the lake. We were about 30 miles from the dam area this trip. It's a large lake !

Bass fishing on the "Chick" yesterday. We fished spinnerbaits/crankbaits on the edge of the grass in 4-15 feet of water. Our best luck was on the inside of sloughs around shad that we could see visually and on the fishfinder. We caught 6 bass in the afternoon and once again Deb caught the best fish of the day. It was in the 4 or so pound range. She caught it on a crankbait in about 7 feet of water. Water temperature was 76-77 degrees. We were using 6 and 8lb. fluorocarbon line. A couple of cell phone pics of our best fish from both trips...
