We launched outta Cottonport, ran up river a bit, got into em on crawdad rattle traps and A rigs in 5 FOW. Fished every cut and creek channel and all fish came at the entrance only, nothing further in. Got 16 , biggest 4.8lb. It was 23 degrees and had flurries at times. Weatherwise it was miserable. I could not feel my face at times. Beats workin.

Muskyman,
Per my post on MLK day, you are one tough fisherman!!!! I lasted as long as o could from 1pm to 2pm monday on the pier... but per the cold, cloudy and windy weather forced me to head home!! hats off to ya!!

Can you recommend any type of gloves which are not too bulky but well-insulated for cold-weather fishing ? Thanks.

I wear gortex gloves that duck hunters wear. They have more feeling in them and when they get wet, you still stay warm. We had issues with casting in that our guides on our rods kept icing over and the levelwind on the reels were filling up with ice. We quickly found out that some types of braid absorbed water more than others and we were better off throwing mono or flourocarbon as the ice build up was less. One thing was for sure, you have to keep the line moving or it iced over in the guides. Dipping the rod in the water would remove the ice and you had to quickly do that while keeping the line moving. It was fun. My face still hurts. My buddy has an awesome Phenix and it is a single console. I was the passenger. I should have brought my snowmobile helmet. Note the key word, should.

Hello Muskyman and thanks for the advice. I'll check out the hunting section for the gloves. I've fished with ice on the guides, but since have resolved to fish only when the temps are above freezing (such as, tomorrow). Good luck thawing out your face !! (LOL)
