Great pic's of great deer. Last year I put out corn in front of my trail cam and got plenty of pic's but when summer cam I put out a mineral block and had the deer coming daily. They came and stayed as long as 45 min. The mineral block dissolved and where the block was is now a hole about 16 in deep by 30 in. I am now a believer in the mineral block and after is dissolves it is legal to hunt within sight of the hole that is left. My back field is open with grass and sage brush and the deer just keep coming in and licking in that hole and they come in all times of the day and night. This is the first time I've put out a mineral block and it's only about $6.00. Try one and see for yourself. Good luck guys

When I moved to Cleveland, TN in the mid-60's, I heard of guys who would take a bag of rock salt in the summer and tie it on top of a tree limb. When it would rain, it would form a salt lick for the fall hunting season. All the salt would be gone by hunting season.

Yep, my uncle did that on his farm for me and he gave me all hunting rights, so I could let anyone hunt and they had to go to his house and tell him how they did and he wanted to meet them. They were friends or family any way. The hanging sack of salt will work but I prefer the mineral block cause it dissolves faster than a salt block and I like the results. Good Luck, Bob

Salt and minerals are not Deer food. The restrictions apply to bait which includes food. I am pretty sure there are things explained in your TWRA Hunter's Manual. Be careful to not think those blocks with corn, apples. grain and natural sweeteners are not mistaken as legal minerals. Those are food and illegal Bait. Whatever you use Even setting out a big bag of corn feed, As long as you remove it or it is gone ten days prior to the day you hunt, it is legal

How are you going to convince a wildlife officer that you removed bait 10 days prior to hunting, and not 2 days?Who called minerals deer food? I must have missed that part of the thread.... Nice pics and healthy deer for sure!
