My little Olympus FE-210 Digital Camera that went for a swim with me the other day has actually come back to life. Powers up and takes pictures (below). I can see some funky lines on a high-rez photo at full size, but maybe that will clear up (or "dry out") in time as well. But meanwhile I've been shopping for an inexpensive waterproof camera. emoBigsmile Looking at an Olympus 770 SW: http://tinyurl.com/6n4avw ... anybody had any experience with them?

GREAT !!!

I would NOT have expected that to happen. Must be a nice camera.Especially so if it has been the camera you post those nice photos with.

... and got your rod/reel AND fish back as well !!!

Just don't getover-confident and think you can keep doing those kind of things emoPoke emoBigsmile

Glad your camera is not dead Richard. I don't know about the Olympus but I have a Pentax Optio W10. It is totally waterproof AND submersible. I think I paid something like $250 online for it. I have not dunked it but it has been soaked on my boat from big rain storms and never even hiccupped.

Here is a link to where I bought my camera. This one is an updated/upgraded version of mine. Still reasonble for the capability. These folks are top notch to deal with as well.

Great little camera you have Richard, buy a camera like Cheeze's then you can take underwater pics of the fish and maybe find some rod and reels on the bottom. You could be the new Jules Vern, do scuba diving trips and cat fishing on the same trip. Maybe start fishing with a spear gun.

I am interested in the waterproof cameras also. I store my regular camera in my boat all the time, and it's always in a Pelican case. I'm always worried about fumbling it overboard though.

I have a friend who has had both, he prefers the download software with the Optio better. Here is an underwater shot:

I have an Olympus Stylus 1030. It is the best camera I have ever had. Can go to 30 feet, for that deep underwater catfish battle! It takes 10.1 MP pictures. Got it online from HPI International for 347.49. I have done everything from pictures in the rain to swimming with it. Great underwater shots if there is enough light. Took it scuba diving in Fla earlier this summer but only to 17 feet. Most of the pictures were to dark except close up w\ flash or on the sunny day at 10 feet or less. OK, there is way more than you wanted to know but it is a great camera!
