My KY buck from Nov 12, 2012

Was fortunate enough to tag out in Trigg Co 2 years in a row! Took this old 8 pt on the morning of Nov 12 while he was dogging a doe. They had bedded up just outside the hay field, about 90 yds from me in a nasty brier-thicket. It was cold and raining, with 15-20mph winds straight into my face. About the time I convinced myself that I let them get away without knowing it, up jumped the doe and bolted into the field with this feller in tow.

Biggest bodied buck I've ever taken, and boy was he beat all to heck and back. He has gauges all over his shoulders and a large patch of hide missing between his shoulder blades. He had snapped one brow tine off just above the base and the other is 6" long and lays flat down the back of his neck. No doubt this guy was in a fight or two. I rough scored him at 126" - If his brow tines matched and the other wasn't broken, he'd be a 130+ 8pt and I'm tickled to death with him. Most of my other trophy bucks have been 130"+ 10's and this is my first good 8 pt. I couldn't be happier!

Thats a good buck, I to hunt in KY on my Farm. If you keep going up there the chances are that you will get a 150 inch or bigger in the area you hunt. My buck from KY should be done in a couple more weeks and will try and post a picture of him and the 2 bucks that I have here at the house when I get it back. My buck from this year will score around 150 or so. Had a 175-180 incher that was in the area that my brother and both his sons missed on the 3rd day of the gun season. But when I was home at Christmas he was hit by a car 100 yards from my parents house. Did not find out about it till the next day so did not get to see him up close. Again thats a good 8 pointer any where you go. I look for a new world record buck to come out of KY in the next 10 years. I saw over 40 bucks in the 8 days I was there in November Most where 2.5 to 3.5 year old and only saw the mature bucks the last couple of days I was there. I saw 4 the last 2 days that where 140-160 inchers. Hope next year all the bucks i saw will be back and have grown bigger. Good Luck next year in KY.
