Everyone likes home made dressing. My mom made some of the best I have ever had. I got this from my mom a few years back before she got so bad she could not remember it. I make this every Thanksgiving to remember times that she could. emoAngel
Walnut/Cornbread Dressing
1 Pan of yellow cornbread...if you don't know how it is on the package.
Sandwich bread- White or wheat enough to equal approx one third to one half the volumn of cornbread.
Celery- Diced, usually one stalk or as much as desired.
Onion- One large diced or as much as desired.
Ground Sage-Usually about one to two rounded teaspoons.
Salt and pepper- to taste.
Chicken broth and margarine- Usually one to two cups of broth. Melt margarine in sauce pan with broth.
Walnuts- Lots emoAngel ...usually one cup to mix in the dressing and one on top of it once mixed. (press top nuts into dressing slightly)
Mix all dry ingredients together in a large bowl or pan. Mix Very well. Add broth with margarine last, only until medium moist and dressing will stick together well. Then add the walnuts and mix into the dressing.
Now, transfer to a baking dish, add top nuts.
Bake at 350 degrees until top nuts are browned and dressing it done. Usually about 30 minutes. Don't overcook as the dressing will be dry. emoHungry Jmax
