Well, my wife finally did it emoLaugh

I've been wanting a yellow lab ever since I can remember. She surprised me at Nickajack last saturday after the tournament with my new fishing buddy. We named her Josie and she's already been in the boat. The outboard scares her a little but once we get to a good spot, she sits on the front deck with me. She also hates ssspppaaaaaaaaats. I caught one and let her smell it and she started biting the tail emoCool I have to keep her on a leash though because she LOVES jumping in the lake and swimming around.

Heeeeere's Josie!

Now that's a good looking fishing partner. Back when I had a golden retriever he though he was supposed to be the hood ornament on the boat whenever I traveled. Once while fishing he jumped out of the boat. Man that's a trip! Dragging a hundred pound wet dog back in the boat and then to add insult to injury getting soaked when he shook off. Good luck with the good looking girl.

YES SIR.. That will be the best partner you will ever have.
I had a Black Lab that use to fish Norris with me and those were some good memories! Unfortunately ol Gus has gone on but the memories I eill take with me!

You are right about the chewing and swimming. I bought her all kinds of stuff to chew on but my fingers are her favorite. Her jaws keep getting stronger and I don't know if I can take it anymore...LOL. After the heavy ran a couple nights ago, we had a big ole mud puddle out back. She had a blast, then it was bath time.

She sure looks a mite better than my fishing buddies have lately. Of course they might say the same about me. emoCool

I've been wantin' to get me a good ol' fishin' buddy. emoToast That is a cute lil' ol dog. I have been lookin' around for some yellow and black labs. They seem like they would be good ol' fishin' buddies.

Yeah, my wife and mother-in-law went up to Collinsville, AL to the flea market while I fished the tourny. They were $250 but they waited till the end of the day and got her for $30. She's had all her shots and vet paperwork came with her. Can't beat that!

That's a great looking Dog !

Say......Can you train her to dive and fetch bass ? Would really pay off in those tournys...........emoBigsmile

Labs are the best big dogs out there. They do require more attention than any other as well. If you spend huge amounts of time with her it will minimize the chewing and destructive behavior. Just give her lots of time and love. Just like kids they need attention.

My German Shepherd is my fishing buddy but I got some advice. Go buy a "doggy" life vest. Rocket wears his and it never fails for someone to ask "why does he have a vest on...can't he swim?". He swims just fine, but those big straps on the back of the vest make it a heck of a lot easier to bring 95lbs back in the boat! He never really "jumps" in but gets so excited he "slips" over the side when I catch something or swim a bait back to the boat..
