I mentioned my boat was in the shop...here's why. OUCH! I had JUST throttled back to come off plane across the channel from Sequoyah, but obviously about 10 yards late! I was looking around and forgot until too late that the water was down. I know better, but my insurance deductable will certainly keep me focused in the future. Hardly felt a bump. Took the fin clean off!

OK, so I got ripped off by a BIG NAME, LOCAL MARINA, who sold me the boat (used, so what can you expect!?). Within a month, I had spent just over $800 rebuilding the upper section of the engine, carbs and such. They had the fuel lines crossed and it started leaking fuel really badly. It also had a bent drive shaft and a shaky gearbox. Now, due to this mishap with the lower unit, it's being re-built as we speak. The boat is in pretty good shape, now the engine is pretty much completely re-built. Hopefully that will be it for a while.

Most of you know the definition of "a boat?"

It's a big hole in the water you pour money into.... emoLaugh

Hey take it to Sportsman Marine they do good work!emoLaugh Wait did I just say that. NevermindemoPoke
Sorry about your boat, seriously.

Yea, sportmans does pretty good work, just be sure not to get in a hurry to get it back it may be awile. And keep a little back for the "oh yea we also found clause". but all in all I've been alot worse, at least it worked when I got it back;)

Just wanted to clear up this post, Sportsmans did get my motor running, however I'm not recommending them because they kept my boat a month longer than estimated and it cost double( actually a little more) than quoted. However it is still running and I guess thats something. If anyone knows someone better please let us all kow about them.

A question came up in what you said. You hit the bottom and Insurance is paying to get your boat fixed. Question - Are they only paying for a portion of the work or all less deductable? When you hit bottom hard, it will bend your crank. That is a covered item when you hit submerged objects, including the bottom. That justifies a rebuild at Insurance Co. expence. Been there and got the T-Shirt

:( That suck man! Wish you luck on the repairs! I've been in your shoes before!emoBang

Sportsman's is doing the work...my Dad used Robert, and he's done all my work...I've enjoyed working with him so far...

The prop was not even scratched. Engine ran fine, just could not take any chances on further damage, of course.

Got the shaft and gears taken care of...deductable only for a pretty much complete re-build. All worked out for the best, I guess.

Brandon...changed the "Grate" icon...not sure that fits in here. My company has a branch in Decatur, and I really hate that...I have my 'bama fishing license, so don't think I won't be in your area a bit this summer. Maybe you can show me around those great lakes one day? I'll PM you...
