It was an interesting day on the water of Wheeler Lake today. The club of which I'm a member, North Alabama Tournament Anglers had our third tourney of the year today in Decatur, AL. Fishing was tough, and I am very tired, and will give more info on patterns, conditions, etc later, probably tonight or tommorow. We had 27 boats and about 40 members fishing today. I finished with 11.65 oz/5 fish (my weight was almost complete two fish, with 3 12inchers), and my boat finished with 14.90 ozs/7 fish. My two biggest were caught on spinnerbaits and here they are.

My boat placed in 6th/ out of 27... and my personal weight finished 3rd.. I am pretty proud, especially since I was fishing against them old geezers :) :) hahaaa!

CooperJD finished with around 9 lbs, and his team finished 3rd with 21 lbs. Big fish was 5.76 lbs.

As I said, I'll have more details when i wake up emoCool

Bprice, way to go, a couple more big fish and you would have whipped them all. Great to see you doing so well. Keep it up!!!!!!!!1

What's with the Dukes of Hazzard T-shirt and Tourneys any way?

Nice fish though.
Congrats. I guess your going to try to tell me how to fish now.......

I caught just under 8 lbs, five fish all about 1.5 pounds. my partner had a limit also, with one going 4-5 and one 2-2, the rest about 1.5lbs. we did finish 3rd with just over 19 pounds. first and second place i believe had 20 pounds, and some odd ounces, so it was a close tourney.

we caught probably 25 fish today, i caught all of mine on a white spinnerbait, one willow one colorado blade. most of my partners fish came off of a white spinnerbait also. we were fishing a shallow cove to be protected to the 20 mph wind throwing into and near grass beds. some of the fish we caught had bloody tails so they were recently on beds. only a couple of fish came out of flipping into brush, most were out from the bank a few feet from the grass.

bprice had a great day with 2 really good looking fish, congrats to ya.

The water was 64 degrees in the creeks we were in very early, as Coop said wind played a big part in our plan for today. Early we planned on flipping channel bushes with large tubes, but with the stiff 15-20 mph we decided that the spinnerbait bite could be hot. It was a wise choice, I had the 4 lb 1 oz in the boat within two casts. All of our fish were caught on either a BPS Lazer Eye 3/8 oz SB White gray flake skirt w/ tandem gold willow blades, or a Rob Bartlett Dixie Jig 1/2 oz green/orange skirt w/ tandem gold indiana blades. They were short striking all but one fish was caught on the trailer hook. All fish were relating to visible grass beds in 1-3 ft of water. The bite came better from a sandy or hard bottom.

Coop, what were they relating to on your spinnerbait bite? What kinda jig where you flipping? Or was it a Texas Rig??? Good bag man, sorry i overexagerated it, I didn't mean too, though I was being truthful :) ... Can you post your pics and the others?

Minner... Give me a break man, and how proud are of you of me that I didn't catch either of those fish in Flint Creek???? You need to post your cat results. We are going to nail them Monday night!!!

Way to go man! Congrats BPrice and thanks for the report - Glad you had a great day of fishing! Is that minner in the second pic next to you? That shirt must be workin...

Hey thanks David, it all meant just a few nice pics, and some AOY points... its CooperJD that walked away with a pocketful of money. Now if he could just remember where his partner took him... haha emoLaugh

No thats not Minner in pic... Minner is an elusive fella, you might find him roaming the mean streets of Huntsville, if you see him in a dark alley, just run... emoLaugh I need to go to bed :)

Thanks Dave! Man, i'm still afraid of going Striper fishing with you. I don't want to lose my bassin' ways.

Shoot man, if you were to go striper fishin' with me so far this year, you'd probably take up golf! emoPoke ...it's been SLOOOOOW.
i think it's time to break out the 'ol ultralights and hunt down some bream.

now brandon, i cannot remember what all you asked me, my spinnerbait was a white terminator titanium expensive one, i broke it off twice and then later went in to get it. philip was flipping a creature looking texas rigged outfit, i was flipping a bootlegger jig, both crawfish colored. as far as the spinnerbait bite, we only had one hit it while it was in the shallow grass, the rest would hit closer to the boat, 10 feet or so out of the grass. there were also some scattered small lillypads in some areas, and philips big fish came from under a pad. y'all can go to www.natabass.com and look at pics under the results section, i don't have the pics at my office computer. we fished one cove all day, maybe 25 acres or so, and only saw one other boat for about half an hour. with the wind we didn't wanna risk driving all over the river, and why leave fish to find fish? i'm just glad i weighed in a limit at a tourney, may be the only one i'll ever weigh in.

Ok Coop, this might be the funniest picture I have seen of you. It looks like you are scared to death that those bass are about to attack you. They are lively for sure.. Rejuvenate is like Crack as I said.emoLaugh emoLaugh
