Who do you guys think play for the national Title? I obviously want VT to get a shot as I feel like they are playing their best ball here at the end. I think the only other fair option is LSU. GA may feel thats not right but they couldn't even manage to win their division much less their conference. VT has the best 2 losses of any 2 loss team, BC and LSU were both ranked #2 when the game was played and both are still ranked in the top 15 now, while LSU's 2 losses came to teams that are not currently ranked. GA lost to SC a team that may not even get to go bowling. Oklahoma lost to Colorado and Texas Tech teams that weren't even ranked when the game was played much less now. USC lost to Stanford. From what I can tell all the other 2 loss teams screwed the pooch alot worse then us and I think we ought to get a shot. What do you guys think?

Although I am a diehard GA fan and might be on their side, I do not think LSU should go. Although they are SEC champs, they had two chances at number one and couldnt stay. They had there chance. Although GA is not the number one chance I believe they would put up a good game. I believe we are one of the hottest teams right now and would compete very well in the National Title. I personally dont believe ohio state will give a good fight to any of the teams that could play them. LSU is good but they shouldnt have even won tonight. They looked pretty bad, TN gave them the game.

Georgia bulldogs... For one reason, they are 4th in the bcs by .0356 over KANSAS, which is ranked 5th in the bcs. They are .0463 over 6th place virginia tech. .0356 is alot to move in a week. Can you tell me and everybody else that its fair for lsu, vt, or oklahoma to jump over ga??? Not in my book. Playoffs would solve everything!!!

Obviously I am not a die hard Georgia fan but I think they are the best team in the nation at this point in time. Arguments
for their case are 1. they were ranked ahead of LSU because it was thought they were a better team 2. Georgia are Co-Champs of the SEC East 3. Georgia would have beated LSU in the title game, Tn would have won if Ainge had not thrown those interceptions 4. I think Georgia is the best team at this point of the season 5. This is my unbiased opinion

You can't be a co-champ of anything if you lose the tie breaker. VT is going to take a huge jump in the computers with a good win over BC.

I think it should be Ohio State and Oklahoma.

OK because they beat the #1 team in the BCS, won their divison and Conference

Mark Richt got a $25k bonus for finishing as co-champs of the East. As far as the National Championship game goes, LSU has no right to play in my view. They lost just last week to an unranked team! If the Dawgs don't make it, I say give it to Oklahoma.

I think all of this ranking stuff and who beat #2 ranked teams and all that is a bunch of BS.I watch Georgia play several times this year and I thought they were weak. I didn't see them play late in the year when they seemed to have came to life but I doubt they are worthy. You really can't make a good argument for anybody. I still think lsu is the best team in the nation. They are just beat up.

Your right beetlespin about lsu being beat up. And i hope if lsu goes to the championship game, they get the snot beat out of em. They are not the best team in the nation, They are just one of many championship capable teams out there. If you put the top 8 teams in the bcs, in a playoff right now, How could you pick a favorite??

The AP and Coaches Poll just came out and it looks like its going to be OSU vs LSU. Both teams lost to unranked teams to finish their regular season. Makes sense right????

Injuries are a part of football. That is why some teams lost games. I really don't care about what the BCS rankings are right now. The best team in the country is USC Trojans. They lost a couple of games when they had key people on the sidelines. Same for LSU. I thought at the first of the year that LSU was the best team in the nation. Oklahoma might be the very best right now. They manhandled a Missouri team that was ranked #1 and was scoring over 30 points in every game. The Sooners held them under 20.

I like Georgia and am a distant Vol fan (not a Chavis fan) and any team that can't beat Tennessee doesn't need to be playing for the NC. Ohio State has a good record, but who have they played? Lost to Illinois (Zooker's team)! Good grief Charlie Brown! Definitely need a playoff system, but it will never happen. It may take 2 or 3 more years like this year to get one in the minds of the college presidents who can only see $ signs and the only real reason that a playoff isn't in place now.

My top teams: USC, Oklahoma, LSU, Georgia, Missouri, Kansas, Va Tech, Ohio State. Let those 8 teams fight it out in a playoff and see who comes out on top. Maybe throw in Oregon State and Hawaii and make it a top 10.

Seems to me they should be able to devise a play off system, using bowls to do it. they could have the miner bowls to decide division championships, than the major bowls to further decide who will play for the national championships. May need a couple more bowls, to handle the playoffs, but not many more. than the last two teams standing plays in the, "golly whopper bowl" for the (NC). seems simple to me. but, what do I know emoScratch

One problem................if they did devise a playoff system, they would have to have BCS title games that involve 2 teams from the same conference.............this year, if they did the playoff system with the top 6 teams, Georgia and LSU would play for the title, if you believe that the SEC is the strongest conference, with the strongest teams. That's what the BCS is against. Year in and year out, the SEC's biggest problem is that we beat the crap out of one another each year, and that is what makes it so hard for any team to go 12-0 in the SEC.

I believe that UGA should be playing for the title, and here's why. Richt made the point of the year by saying, "They (being the BCS cronies) ranked us at #4, knowing that we weren't playing for the conference title. Yet, they still ranked us at #4." Now, if you follow the the way things have went, when #1 has fallen, #2 steps up to #1. Or when #2 falls, the #3 team moves up to #2. This is the only week that this system hasn't happened. You have UGA falling down one spot, and you have a 2-week idle team in OSU moving up. UGA was only idle for 1 week. In all honesty, Missouri did not deserve to be at #1, but that's just the way the motions were happening to fall. They were the next in line, therefore, they moved up. In all honesty, WVU deserved to be #1, but they weren't. Both of them fall, so the next two should step up, which would have been OSU and UGA. But, that didn't happen.

LSU had injuries, which they overcame to win the SEC. Dorsey being out is a huge loss on their D line. He should be 100% by game time, which is going to be a huge plus for LSU. They should have Matt Flynn back, but having a dual-QB system in place, having Perrilloux as a starter isn't going to be too bad for LSU, if Flynn isn't 100%. So, if you all say that UT should have won the SEC, that must mean that they are a weaker team, because they couldn't defeat an LSU team that was pushing, at best, 85% healthy. And this is coming from me, the football fan, and not the UT hater. Sure, I poked fun at UT for the loss, but the truth is that they were beaten. LSU didn't hand them the game. They, as a unit, could not come together and defeat LSU. Placing the blame on Ainge, Fulmer, etc., is not going to do any good. Football is a TEAM sport. If it were just for individuals, then it wouldn't be the same sport. The team lost.

UGA is co-champion of the SEC East. The only reason that UT won the tie-breaker was due to the head-to-head win over UGA. However, if the SEC would throw that little rule out, UGA should have won the East. Having the head-to-head is a convienent way of letting one team off. Personally, I agree with a co-worker of mine. If it comes down to a tie-breaker like that, have a playoff game to determine a true champion for each division. In the GHSA, in Class A, Region 2-A was subdivided. #1 from side A played #4 from side B, and so forth and so on. Now, letting them have a playoff like that wouldn't make sense, because then you could be letting a #3 team be the champion for each division. However, in the case of any kind of tie-breaker situation, throw out all the cute little rules for letting a team slide, and have a playoff game. And yes, I would say this even if UGA had won the East.

This is the kind of year that shows that the current BCS system is not working. 8 #2 fall in the span of 15 weeks of football, and 5 or 6 #1 teams fall. Two of those were LSU, and both happened in 3 OT.

This is coming from me, but I honestly feel that college football's current season is too short. Have a playoff system among the top 8 teams. That will add an additional 7 games. For the teams that are #9-#25, assign the bowl games, etc. The only problem that would occur, though, would be the colleges that lose in the playoff format crying that they are losing money by not remaining in the playoffs, and therefore, it's not fair to have a playoff system. Ok, if that's going to be the case, then have bowl games for the losers in the playoffs, with the National Title game being between the two teams that come out at the end. You still have the BCS in tact and you have a tangible system for determining a rightful National Title team.

So, with this being said, let's see how this year would play out, in my eyes.

#1 OSU
#2 LSU
#3 Va Tech
#4 OK
#5 UGA
#6 Missouri
#7 USC
#8 Kansas

#1 and #2 have byes.

Va Tech vs OK = Va Tech
UGA vs Mizz = UGA
USC vs Kansas = USC

#2, #3, and #4 have byes.

OSU vs LSU = LSU
-----------------------
LSU vs Va Tech = Va Tech
UGA vs USC = UGA

National Championship = UGA vs Va Tech = UGA

Remaining bowl games:

LSU vs USC
Mizz vs Kansas
OSU vs OK

Did you forget the beat down Virginia Tech took at the hands of LSU this year? 48-7! I don't understand the logic behind that pick.

A tiebreaker by head to head match up is how its solved in any sport, that is senseless for the SEC to add an extra game to playoff "co" champions in a division. That is why they play in the regular season against each other every year.

LSU has two major injured players right now, which weren't injured when they played VT. VT right now is a very good football team. It's also very difficult to defeat a team twice in one year. Which makes sense for adding the games to the SEC. Could UT, at the end of the season, defeat a very hot UGA team? I don't think so.

there aint no point in crying about it any longer. I feel like VT got robbed, but thats my opininon as a VT fan. I am sure that Oklahoma fans feel the same way and the team I feel the worst for is missouri, Losing out to a team they beat the previous weak just plain stupid! I felt like we should have gotten to play a great team like GA or Oklahoma or USC so we could get the split title but as it was they let each of us play a team that won't have the panache to split the title :(

I hear ya FS... I just enjoy talking about it, but there is no point in getting mad about anything or trashing someone elses team. Va Tech should have a great game in the Orange Bowl. My good friend is a VT man, and I am always hoping they do well for his sake. He doesn't handle losses well :)

well you may as well be talking about me. Christy leaves when I am watching a game for some reason. I love to watch them win and HATE to watch them lose. Kinda like most of you vol fans! I am all for scheduling a patsy instead of a real team like LSU in the future cause our only loss would be to BC and we would be playing for the title. if if if if. Im looking forward to that little catfish shindig next weekend. We can talk football until the fish start biting :)

you are going with us??? Awesome... looking forward to getting to know ya'll face to face better. It'll be a weeeeee bit nippy.
