Pete Jr. took me fishing yestd. out of Riverpark. The flow was 57K cfs with a few gates open, the surface temp was 39-40. He put me on a nice 5 lb. 9 oz. TARP smallie - THANKS, Man! It hit a jig/pig, tangled my line in the lower unit, got untangled and came to net. I was lucky to get it in the boat! Pete hooked a smallie in the 4-5 lb. range on a spinner bait that got off right at the boat. Later he got his keeper smallie (19.25 in.) on a tube. Made us glad to both get a keeper smallie as tough as its been. We also got a couple of decent spots and a boatload of drum. All fish released.

I complained about the tough smallie fishing in my last post. Well, we had to work for them yestd. too. We spent 9 hours on the water. We did take a leisurely lunch break during which Elwest (Earl) stopped by and we had a nice chat. He also complained about the difficult smallmouth fishery.

Man smallies are beautiful! Good job and thanks for the report. Sounds like you did better than everyone I talked to and have seen post a report on here lately, except for the team that won the Frostbite tourney with like 30lbs.

Awesome fish! Thanks for sharing... just proves that there are rewards for those who are willing to "do the work."

Way to catch a few. There's not a fish I've seen prettier than a smallie. Hopefully it'll get better down there!

Beautiful Smallie, Pete. Great report. Thanks for sharing. Healthy spots too. How come I didn't see the Drum pic? emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Sorry, Dickey, we don't take pics of drum any more. We do catch a lot of them down there and they vary in color. Some are silver, some are a pretty copper color, some are brown like a smallie and some are in between. We'll post a pic of one or two of your pets next time. emoSorry
