I burned up a cranking battery I was using, (i know wrong application)so now I am in the market for the "right" battery. I have a 55Lb digital in 12V. I am planning on running two batteries, but will start with one for the moment, What do yall suggest.

I just bought one from O'Reilly's. It has 550 Amps and 130 reserve minutes. Picked it up for $65.00. Haven't had a chance to try it yet though, my fingers are too cold to connect the wires!!! I didn't have the money for an Optima or one of the big ones.

If you travel at all to other lakes, buy the big yellow ones from Wally world. Group 31, if you are away from home and one goes down, you can get them replaced 24/7 and 365. I run three in my Norriscraft and have used them for about ten years prior to that. I have never needed to replace them in a hurry but it is good to know that I can.

Beetlespin's offer is a good one and well worth the price, otherwise I wouldn't spend the $ for NEW Optimas. Sorry, but if you are paying full price I'm with Carl on this one. I run 4 (FOUR) of the big (Wal-Mart) batteries, and if you keep them charged and watered they are good and easily replaced, and they honor their warranty (I am REALLY hard on batteries with constant high trolling, lights, bait tank, spot light, etc) and I have never had a problem with warranty exchange.

Another vote for Wallyworld, the 31 series if you have room, if not go to the 29 series. I've used them for years and only had one go bad within the warranty period and they replaced it in 5 minutes, no questions asked, and put it in my boat for me to boot...

I have been using the big yellow ones from wallyworld for 2 years now, they are hooked up to an onboard charger and stay plugged up all the time, they have a good warranty which I haven't used.

BS has a great deal on the Opti's, otherwise get the Yellow Maxx from Wally World. Don't buy their regular series, get the MAXX for all the above reasons.
