I have a great vet down in South Pittsburg, but would like to find a closer vet - especially for when we need one for those unscheduled visits for our dog. I'd like to find someone less than an hour away like I have now. Anyone have any recommendations for a good vet in the Hixson, Red Bank or Soddy area? Thanks for any help.....Jim

We have always been very pleased with the Ashland Terrace Animal Hospital, for boarding, checkups and emergency trips. Our dogs (golden r and blk lab) love the place.

Was it Steve Myers you go to in So Pitt? If so - he's hard to match!! My wife works for him part time (she's been in the business for 25 yrs) and says he's one of the few that really care.
Mary Stanley across from Sam's on Lee Hwy is the one my wife would recommend'
DO NOT go to Animal Clinic on 23rd or their East branch on Gunbarrel Rd-they are infested with disgruntalled employees and are strictly in it for the cash!

Thanks for the responses. We currently use Dr. Powers (I think his name is Steve) in South Pittsburg. He is relatively young, but takes a lot of time with the dog and we have been very satisfied. That's fine for a yearly physical, but sometimes it would be nice to run her by to check something out quick. That's why I'd like to get one close by, but don't trust to take my lab to just anyone. Thanks again for the responses.

Ditto that, some of those people need a lesson in "Customer Service 101". I never have understood how people can sometimes act like you are privileged they are waiting on you. emoBang I use to go there and stopped. I now use the one on HWY 58....Wolftever Animal Hospital, they are pretty good and always nice. I keep my dog there when my wife and I go somewhere. emoThumbsup Jmax

Dragfish makes a good point here. I know this is off topic, but what happened to Vets that actually CARE? It seems that many of them, confronted with an animal in pain, in an emergency, would rather talk cash than give care. Sad, sad. When I lived on our farm in Georgia we had an old vet that loved animals. He'd come by, and when times were tough and he knew we couldn't afford his services, he'd often do stuff at no charge. We made sure to pay him back with garden vegetable, fresh beef, and fresh pork. He cared about the animals first, bottom line second.

we go to banfield. This will sound ridiculous but they have a wellness plan that covers teeth cleaning and yearly shots that is way cheaper at 20 a month than it would be to just pay for the yearly stuff. it also helps out on some other costs as well.
