Who ever you have do it, insist on a leak down test to be done to the engine. A engine can have good compression and still have mechanical issues. Most places rely solely on compression test to check the health. I have one here now that belongs to a fellow CFF'er and he paid someone to look at it and they performed a compression test and said that the idle issues and low speed issues it was exhibiting was from bad gas, so he bought it. I now have it here being torn down because all cylinders failed a leakage test and #1 has 72% leakage. So his issues are mechanical. I need to post a page out of a factory manual stating that IF a engine that has even compression but is hard to start and performs poorly should be checked for scorn cylinder walls, bad ring, worn rings, ect. In other words you can have good compression and issues. Of course, these are just MY opinions and practices. emoToast
